Here is one article: http://www.kitsapsun.com/news/2010/oct/07/baby-injured-in-highway-303-collision/
Another view of the car: http://www.komonews.com/news/local/104462089.html#idc-container
Here is what happened:
At 7:48 p.m. (according to police reports) Kate (my sister) was heading north on Hwy 303 in Bremerton, just in front of Fred Meyer, waiting in the left hand turn lane. A big Yukon SUV came from behind and smashed into the right side of the car (as you can see from the picture). Kate's little Kia Spectra then was spun around from the impact. Apparently this caused two other cars to crash as well, but I do not have details on that yet. Eyewitnesses later said that the driver of the Yukon was taken away in a police car, but I have not confirmed that yet either. Todd, Kate, Ulysses, Sadie and Enzo were all wearing seatbelts and carseats. Kate's groceries and school backpack was strewn all over the road (Kate is currently studying to be a dental assistant). Enzo was in his backwards facing carseat in the back right seat. He was not breathing at first and when the paramedics arrived, they performed CPR and decided to airlift him to the Children's Hospital in Tacoma. Ulysses and Sadie were shaken but ok - from what I understand do not have a scratch on them. Todd and Kate are also injury free. They were all checked out by the paramedics and released after declining to be taken to the hospital (they wanted to get to Tacoma to be with Zo).
As more details become available, I will edit this story.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray that no matter what the outcome, my family would draw close to Jesus during this time and that He would provide us comfort and healing.
Hi there - I found your blog tonight through the comment you left on the KOMO website. You bet I'm lifting this family and little one up tonight in prayer!
ReplyDeleteI'll be hoping for a good report!!
Thank you Angela!
ReplyDeleteI have been drawn closer to your story more than I have ever been to any and certainly more than I had anticipated. As a father, any story that involves children really draws my attention and my heart. Your family, as well as all involved, are certainly in our unending prayers.
ReplyDeleteI am also adding my prayers to the many I am sure are out there. Please, all of you, take care of yourselves as well. You need to maintain your strength and energy for the days to come. Stay strong. Charlene
ReplyDeleteMy mom, a registered nurse, came upon the scene prior to EMS, and performed CPR on him until they arrived... She called me shortly after leaving the scene, crying. She cannot stop thinking about him, your family, and how he is doing. She will be so grateful to be able to follow his progress through this blog.
ReplyDeleteMy family's thoughts and prayers are with your family.
Hello Melissa,
ReplyDeleteI do believe that when two or more agree on one thing and pray, our Lord in heaven will answer. I go to City church and am gonna ask all my friends, and also the ones back in India to pray for lil Zo. I am already believing in a miracle and waiting to hear more from you. Lets hold on to HIS promises and pray until we see a miracle.
Blessed are those that haven't seen, yet believed.
Jon.
I am drawn to this story because I have a 2 year old little girl and its my fear that some person not pay attention or is drunk will crash into me like what happened with your sister. No matter how careful we are driving our cars.. doesnt mean the person next to us or behind us is as well and thats the scary thing! Your whole family is in my prayers! May baby Enzo make a full recovery!

I am Annie's mom, I did come upon that horrible crash, I will not call it an "accident". I only pray that the CPR I performed on little Zo gave him the chance he needed to survive his injuries. Thank you for this blog, because I need to know how he does. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
ReplyDeleteI, too, live nearby and heard siren after siren and decided to go see what happened. What a horrifying site. My prayers to Baby Enzo and family. Also, to those that helped immediately and have to deal with the images in your head -- i pray for you too. May you find strength and comfort in at least knowing that you helped. PS I took several pictures, one of which the news used. If you need any of those pictures for insurance purposes or anything else, please let me know. Once again Prayers to all involved.

ReplyDeletePrayers are pouring out. I know what it is like to have a child horrifically injured, and to see God work incredible miracles- like you said, the peace is in knowing that whatever the worldly outcome, GOD has got it under control; even these circumstances will be used to glorify him. love and prayers to that precious boy and his family
ReplyDeleteJust heard that God took little Zo home with him ... I am so sorry ... prayers are still being sent for continued strength ... just seen a video on facebook of "The Sky Angel Cowboy", a 13 year old from Nebraska who called into a Christian radio station ... if you havent heard this yet then look it up ... his message might help all of you during this hard time ... God Bless
ReplyDeleteI am so so sorry, I wish I could be there, Rob and Grammie will be there by 5 tomorrow. The following story is for you.
ReplyDelete2Samuel 12:15-23
Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." Nathan replied, "The LORD has taken away your sin. You are not going to die. But because by doing this you have made the enemies of he LORD show utter contempT, the son born to you will die." After Nathan had gone home, the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife had borne to David, and he became ill. David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and went into his house and spent the nights lying on the ground. The elders of his household stood beside him to get him up from the ground, but he refused, and he would not eat any food with them. On the seventh day the child died. David's servants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, for they thought, "while the child was still living, we spoke to David but he would not listen to us. How can we tell him the child is dead? He may do something desperate." David noticed that his servants were whispering among themselves and he realized the child was dead. "Is the child dead?" he asked. Yes, "they replied,"he is dead". Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate. His servants asked him, "Why are you acting this way? "While the child was still alive,I fasted and wept, I thought, Who knows? The LORD maybe gracious to me and let the child live. But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I WILL GO TO HIM, BUT HE WILL NOT RETURN TO ME." (meaning he is in heaven).
We will all see Enzo someday! Oh what an awesome day that will be! Rob and Grammie have hugs and kisses from me to all of you, wish I could be there. I know I could not even imagine the pain you are suffering, keep your faith we are all still praying for you! Love in Christ, Sue
“Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise. Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.”- Proverbs 19:20-21 Stay strong in the knowledge that the LORD is always with you. All my love to you. Teri (Sue Decker's sister)
